Ron English @ Dream in Plastic

Ron English

Ron English is a well-known painter, whose work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the globe. While his agit-pop paintings hang in galleries around the globe, English has been “liberating” billboards as an outlet for his work and to protest corporate America’s paid self-expression. He has pirated over a thousand billboards over the last twenty years, replacing existing advertisements with his own hand-painted subvertisements.

We are some lucky gals at Dream in Plastic and had the pleasure of meeting the artist himself when he moved to the area! We are also grateful that we were able to hold ourselves together. Managing to not faint in his legendary and super-cool presence, we now bring you a few select items for sale from the personal stock of English himself! A lot of these items are hard to find these days, as they were made in limited amounts and quickly snatched up by Ron fans worldwide.

Check out some of Ron’s creations in person in Beacon, or in the website.

Kathie Olivas – The Scavengers Series 2

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Kathie Olivas’ newest addition to The Scavengers mini-figure series is now in stock at Dream in Plastic! We have 6/8 figures available open box, so you can avoid disappointment and save money by not having to open multiple blind boxes yourself.

The Scavengers Series 2 Mini-Figures are based on Kathie Olivas’ amazing original paintings. They are inspired by early American portraiture that often depicted children as small adults in an idealized new land. The characters parallel this vision within their own sense of post-apocalyptic conformity, uniquely documenting their own stories in a mysterious brave new world.

Just like Series 1, each figure comes in one of the best toy-collector-friendly boxes we have ever seen. Each character is lovable in its own way and limited to under 2,000 of each! Collect them all before they are gone.

Put your hands together…

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

…for this new set of handsoap!

While the original handsoap is still dear to our heart, we love this new simplifed pair of hands just as much! You get one right, one left – just enough to make your guest giggle when they reach for the soap. They are completely handmade, and all natural – made from goat’s milk and vegetable glycerin. They make an amazing gift and there is still (a little) time to get these in time for the holidays. At only $16.00 a pair, you are sure to give a gift that is envied at that secret Santa shindig.
